How to invite a second person to your Premium x2 Plan

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Willful’s Premium Coverage x 2 plan provides a complete set of legal documents for two adults, with each person receiving their own secure account to create and manage documents independently. This ensures both privacy and flexibility, and allows for easy updates as life changes.

To get started, the plan purchaser must invite the second person to claim their spot. The invitee will receive an email prompting them to create their own Willful account and begin their documents. You can compare all plan features and pricing on our Comparing Willful plans page.

How to invite someone to your plan

Step 1: Complete your purchase

You’ll need to complete the purchase of the Premium Coverage x 2 plan before you can send an invitation.

Step 2: Send an invitation

Once your plan is active:

  1. Log in to your Willful account.

  2. Go to Account Settings: Click "Menu" in the top-right corner and select "Account Settings."

  3. Find your plan details: On the "Your Account" page, click the Send Invite button.

  4. Enter their information: Add your invitee’s name and email address, then click Send Invitation.

Tip: A quick check for typos or extra spaces at the beginning or end of the email can help ensure your invitation is delivered smoothly and avoids common errors.

Step 3: Invitee accepts the invitation

Your invitee will receive an email titled "Claim Your Prepaid Plan." They will need to:

  • Click the link in the email.

  • Create their own Willful account.

After signing up, they’ll be able to complete their documents independently.

Step 4: Confirm their status

Once your invitee redeems their plan:

  • A green checkmark will appear next to their name in your Account Settings.

  • You can also cancel or resend invites from this page.

Troubleshooting common invitation issues

If the invite doesn't arrive

  • Allow up to 30 minutes for delivery.

  • Ask your invitee to check their spam or promotions folders.

Email address already in use

If the person you’re inviting already has a Willful account, the system won’t allow that same email address to be used again for a new plan. We understand this might feel limiting - especially if your loved one signed up in the past but didn’t move forward with their documents. To help resolve this:

  • Use a different email address: If your loved one has an alternate email, you can send the invitation there.

  • Delete the existing account: They can log into their existing account, go to Account Settings, and delete their current account. Note that if they made any progress within their existing account, they would need to start over in the new account.

  • Contact us for help: If they’re unsure what to do next, our support team is here to help - just send us an email, and we’ll be happy to assist.

What if we share an email address?

We understand that some couples or family members may prefer to share a single email address. However, each Willful account must have a unique email address. This requirement is in place to protect your privacy and ensure that each person's legal documents remain secure and confidential.

It's an important part of our commitment to keeping your information safe and your account personal to you.

Workaround: Gmail users can add "+1" (e.g., [email protected]) to create a unique email address that still goes to the same inbox.

Can I cancel or revoke an invitation?

If you sent the invitation to the wrong email address, if the original invitee found out they're not a good fit for Willful, or if you simply changed your mind about who to invite, you might want to cancel the invitation.

We understand that situations can evolve, and we’ve made it easy to manage your plan so it reflects your current needs. As long as the original invitee hasn't claimed their plan yet, you can cancel your invitation. To do so:

  1. Go to Account Settings.

  2. Invitations that are still pending can be cancelled.

  3. Once cancelled, you can send a new invite to someone else.

The original invitee will be shown a message that their invitation was revoked. It’s a good idea to let them know why you made the change.
