Need help finalizing your will? Willful offers a paid virtual witnessing service for folks in BC. If you live in British Columbia, you can use Willful’s virtual witnessing service to legally execute your will - from the comfort of your home. We’ll provide two official witnesses and guide you through the process online. The digital execution program only applies to your will (last will and testament). That’s because Bill 21 made it legal to digitally sign and witness wills in British Columbia - but power of attorney (POA) documents still need to be signed on paper. Unfortunately, this service is not in other provinces yet, you will need to print and then sign in person. Learn more about how to sign and witness your POA documents in this article.
What’s Included?
For $49.00 per person + tax, the service includes:
One virtual witnessing and signing session
Two Willful representatives to act as your official witnesses
Secure document signing through DocuSign
What You’ll Need
To participate in the virtual witnessing session, you’ll need:
A device that supports Zoom or Google Meet (we need to be able to see and hear you, as well as see the screen that you're signing from)
Access to your email
A valid piece of photo ID
How it works
1. Finish your will and schedule your appointment
Before booking, make sure you’ve completed your will and downloaded the PDF from your Willful account. You’ll need this document ready to upload when scheduling your session.
Once you have your will, book a virtual witnessing appointment using this link.
At the end of the form, you’ll be prompted to:
Choose a date and time that works best for your appointment
Upload your downloaded will and fill out a short form with the information we need to prepare your document for signing
Don’t worry - if you need to come back to the form later, we’ll also send the link to your email.
If you can't find a day and time that works for you, we are happy to accommodate special requests on a case-by-case scenario. Please reach out to our team at [email protected] to make your request.
2. Watch for instructions in your inbox
After you book your appointment, we’ll send you:
A calendar invite with a Google Meet link for your session
Email reminders before your scheduled appointment
Where to find your Google Meet link
The link to join your session will appear right in your calendar event. Look for something like:
'Join with Google Meet ' followed by a clickable link (it usually starts with https://meet.google.com/)
If you don’t see it right away, check under the “Location” field or in the event’s description section.
3. Join your virtual session
During your appointment:
You’ll show a piece of photo ID to confirm your identity
You and the witnesses will take turns signing the will using DocuSign while sharing your screens
The appointment usually lasts between 10-20 minutes
4. Receive your completed will
Receive an email with a fully executed PDF of your will.
This PDF serves as your legal original.
You might also receive additional follow-up information if requested during the appointment.
